A friend of mine, who is a huge fan of the great outdoors, gave me a small set of octopus furniture that he found at a local outdoor store. I picked them up and immediately thought, why not try out something that is so small? We also looked at some different chairs.
The octopus furniture is a great example of how you can really get your octopus to care for its size. The plastic parts are pretty fragile, and you can’t really get too much of them in a single sitting. But it’s worth a try.
I don’t know if they were purchased by the salesperson or if the person who sold them to you was a fan. But I do know that my friend really likes them. And I’ll tell you what, I’m going to try to get my buddies some octopus furniture this fall.
If you don’t already have a bunch of octopus furniture, you can get some of these for cheap on eBay. The parts are about the same quality, and it’s still a lot of fun. I think I got mine for around $30.
It doesn’t end there. The pieces are also available in an assortment of other shapes and styles. And because of the price, I’m going to be doing the whole thing in one sitting. No small feat for the octopus-obsessed.
You’re going to have to be good at it though. You’re going to have to be very good indeed to build a living octopus. The good news is that there are several different kinds of wood available. I’m just using oak. We’ll see what happens.
Ok, there is a wood that is called “octopus wood” (also known as “octopus maple”). It’s a bit harder to find. But it’s very similar to oak. So I would say, if you’re going to be building octopus furniture, oak might be your best bet.
I know I’m not a fan of the term “octopus-obsessed”, but I will say that I absolutely love octopus furniture. It’s a great way to add a little bit of color to your home without taking up too much space. And I know I’m going to end up buying a few of these.
It’s also a really easy alternative to oak. You can just buy some oak wood and trim it to whatever size you need (I think I’m going to order some at Home Depot).
For all you octopus-fetishists out there, oak is actually the most popular wood used for octopus furniture. Why? Because of its unique chemical composition — it is naturally toxic to octopuses. But it’s also a great and affordable wood because it can be worked into any size or shape (a nice tip for anyone building or renovating a home — you may be able to find out how to use it if you’re interested).
