Who doesn’t love orange? It’s a vibrant and warm colour that is perfect for any time of year. This crop top from SheIn is the best way to get into orange fashion! The orange hue will bring out your autumn glow, or it can make you look like a beautiful beach babe as the sun sets in the summertime. No matter what season you’re in, this crop top will be a staple piece that everyone needs to have in their closet.

What is a crop top?

A crop top is a garment that covers from the waist to just below the chest, with its hemline ending at or above belly button level. The sleeves are often cropped so they end right where your shoulders begin. Crop tops come in different lengths and styles depending on how much of your stomach you want to be revealed, but most have elastic bands at the sides to help keep them in place.

A crop top can be worn alone with jeans or leggings, tucked into a skirt for an edgy look or layered under a shirt as a way of showing some skin without being too revealing. They’re great because you’ll never have to worry about your bra peeking out from underneath and they look great with a wide variety of bottoms.

One hot orange crop top you might want to add to your closet is this boho cut orange tank from Amazon Fashion’s brand, My Michelle. The orange colour will make any outfit pop and the frilly detail at the bottom gives it an extra special touch of femininity without being too girly.

(Some brands even have orange crop tops with a built-in bra, so you won’t need to wear one under it)

How to stitch an orange crop top?

cut orange fabric to desired length and width, with a few inches extra on each side for the hem. If you want the crop top to be sleeveless make sure that one of your sides is long enough so it can stretch over your shoulder without being too short. You’ll also need about half an inch seam allowance around all edges.

fold the fabric so it’s double-thick and cut a hole where your head will go. The size of this should be about eighteen inches across at its widest point, can be smaller or bigger depending on how you want to wear the crop top

sew around all edges except for one side which will become the front hem. Leave an opening of about two inches wide for turning the orange crop top right-side out.

turn the orange crop top inside out and iron it so that all edges are flat. Sew up your hole to close

hem both sleeves by sewing across one edge and down the other, leaving a few centimetres on either side unfinished.

What can you wear an orange crop top with?

orange jeans or orange shorts

a bright, green tank top to wear as an undershirt underneath the orange crop top for extra modesty and coverage. You can also use it on its own if you want to be more covered up.

You’ll need:

One orange shirt (dress shirt will work too)

orange thread and needle for sewing

scissors to cut with.

Tips: – this orange crop top is very simple but you can also add a little lace around the neckline or sleeves if desired. A ribbon will work too! If you’re feeling creative, go ahead and make your own design on it by adding an orange flower or orange ribbon on the front.

if you’re wearing a dress, orange shoes go great with orange crop tops and add that extra pop of colour!

Instructions:

find orange fabric that is stretchy and thin. A dress shirt will also work as long as it’s lightweight since you’re going to need a lot of material. If you want a lighter undershirt or tank top, then go with something like cotton instead. Cut the orange piece into two pieces (one for the front and one for the back)

if you want a shirt to be sleeveless, leave some extra fabric on your armpit. If you’re going to wear it sleeved like in this tutorial, cut two sleeves (you can make them as long or short as desired).

sew together orange pieces from the inside out, but leave an opening a few inches wide for turning.

turn orange piece inside out and iron edges flat so that they lay smoothly against your body. Pin in place if necessary.
